Website Defacements

The latest defacements of websites posted on zone-h.org this time was from the Turks and the Brazilians. Most of these is from the government owned websites which is not secured and left open for attacks from the hackers/crackers. Linux and Windows 2003 Servers are the favorite Operating System to attack because it is much more secure and hackers/crackers find it more challenging than any other servers.
Website defacement is usually the substitution of the original index page by a system cracker. Defacement is generally meant as a kind of electronic graffiti, although recently it has become a means to spread messages from politically motivated “cyber protesters” or hacktivists.
Since 2003, almost 75% of these servers running MS IIS 5.0 is vulnerable to attacks than Apache on Linux.
“Attacks won’t get worse, it will only get better.” If you know how to secure your server, thats the best thing you can protect from the attacks.
